Props, set painting & projection design.

A comedy-drama about family history & generational trauma, told through three whimisical, avant garde Acts that take us through different generations of the same family.

We begin in Michigan, 1970s. The set reflects the time period with an intentional oudated, second-hand feel. A timejump to 2000s in Act 2 & 3 allows for modern devices, but decor & applicanes have been passed down generationally.

The Puzzle
Handpainted puzzle of an apple tree, used by the Colonel in Act 1.

The Apple Tree
An apple tree made of paper mache grows throughout the show, eventually consuming the set by Act 3. The living room & kitchen become an overwhelming mess.

Edible props
Many props made to be edible since the character Beauty has pica, an eating disorder in which a person eats things not usually considered food.

Beauty drinks edible blue "paint", made with food dye & yogurt.
Breakfast table setting with edible flower, sculpted with fondant.
Beauty's edible "dirt", made with oreos and chocolate pudding.

The Womb
The set transforms into a “womb”, where Fetus 1 & 2 make commentary on the outside world.

Projection animation for Act 1: Transition from reality to the inside of the protagonist’s womb. Fleshy textures and anatomincal colors to resemble amniotic fluid. Made with AfterEffects.

Confetti
A confetti popper to represent a pregnant Violet’s water broke.
